Hasbro
In 2013, I started working for Hasbro on the Games Creative Writing Team as Content Developer and Brand Writer on the Adult/Party Games team. I managed the content development for games that included significant amounts of words lists, phrases, and/or questions. For each brand I worked on, I wrote the rules, taglines, and creative copy for the packaging, ensuring on-brand messaging and communication.
In addition to writing extensive amounts of content myself, I hired and managed freelance writers who wrote, fact-checked, and edited content. I read and edited all freelance submissions. I also conducted extensive game testing to ensure the content was accurate to the experience of each game. Concerning content localization, I collaborated with Global Markets on localizing the content and hired vendors who adapted and translated American content and wrote compelling localized content which I reviewed.
I managed the Trivial Pursuit brand for the five years I was there, including content localization. This was the same for Taboo, Catch Phrase, Scattergories, Guesstures, Outburst, and Cranium. This includes not only product refreshes but new ways to play or aged-up audiences. Examples are Midnight Taboo, Taboo Buzzd, Catch Phrase Uncensored, Cranium Dark, Trivial Pursuit Hints, Trivial Pursuit 2000s, Trivial Pursuit Star Wars.
New brands I developed with the game designers were Speak Out (TOTY nominee), Hearing Things (TOTY nominee), Awkward Hugs, 21st Century Problems, Pointing Fingers, Don’t Lose Your Cool, Caught on Tape, and Speech Breaker. Speak Out was on shelf in 10 weeks. Content was finished in one week, including the UK, France, and Germany. I wrote significant content for each, as well as creating the brand voice through rules and packaging. I was also the Brand Writer on Pour Taste, Coinhole, and Pie Face.
